House Bill 342/Senate Bill 139 extends the manufacturing tax credit to Jan. 1, 2011 and allows for a review of the effectiveness of the credit in 2005. It also limits the extent of the credit to $2 million in any one year and includes an employment provision to receive the credit.
House Bill 119 clarifies certain uses of a call center, addressing an interpretation of the Tax Department that might subject call centers to a gross receipts tax.
Senate Bill 139 extends the life of certain investment credit provisions of the state's tax code, and it extends the period of application for investment tax credits for manufacturers.
Senate Bill 437 appropriates $50,000 to the Economic Development Department to fund online promotion and marketing of New Mexico products.

Pending legislation will double the size of the 54 Empire Zones and add four new zones. Businesses locating or expanding operations in Empire Zones received significant tax credits along with nearly tax free operations for up to 10 years.
Pending legislation will provide real property tax credits for the cost of brownfield remediation that results in commercial redevelopment of the property.
