Kansas
Enacted a tax relief measure totaling $10.4 million over the first fiscal year. The package includes $8.3 million for an income tax credit for property taxes paid by Kansas oil producers. Package also includes exemptions on labor and materials used in the construction of grain storage and railroad infrastructure.
Continuation of the 1999 comprehensive transportation plan with an increase of approximately $70 million.
Increase education per pupil expenditure totaling $30 million.

$21 million in funds for 27 Renaissance Kentucky communities to revitalize their downtown areas.
Gov. Paul Patton created a 35-member Smart Growth Task Force to study growth and development in Kentucky.
Governor also signed a new energy initiative, the Kentucky State Energy Policy Advisory Board, to coordinate a statewide energy policy. The strategy will maximize the state's low-cost energy advantages while supplying reliable statewide power.

Louisiana Department of Economic Development sponsors the Capital Companies Tax Credit Program. Program facilitated the development of the venture capital industry in Louisiana and has raised $260 million for qualified Louisiana businesses.
Louisiana Biomedical Research & Development Park Program is an incentive to help attract medical research and manufacturing.
